Describing the complete diversity of the Maures region here is a daunting task, given its extraordinary parks, enchanting gardens, picturesque villages, monasteries, iconic structures, olive groves, olive oil mills, and vineyards, many of which adhere to organic practices. There are numerous guides and websites available, including VisitVar, which we highly recommend.

The region is also home to a remarkably diverse wildlife. While exploring the shaded valleys and beyond, you might come across the iconic Hermann’s tortoise, the beloved mascot of the Maures (caution! it is a protected species, so please refrain from disturbing it). Further on, you may encounter a fox, wild boar, genet, or pine marten, adding to the enchantment of your journey.
As you look up, you’ll have the pleasure of observing the majestic flight of numerous birds of prey, including the short-toed snake eagle. As you descend from the summit towards the end of the day, you may be serenaded by the characteristic call of an owl or a Eurasian eagle-owl. And if the melodious chorus of cicadas fills the air, it’s a sure sign that summer is drawing near…
